Human interactions are evident within the Lowveld environment over many centuries - from bushman rock paintings to majestic archaeological sites like Masorini and Thulamela. Your Kruger safari will be experienced in the private reserves or concessions with immense and diverse tracts of conservation land offering a low density and personalized game viewing experience away from the masses.

Thereafter, your program is combined with a visit to Cape Town - its many attractions have made Cape Town a famed world class destination for many global travelers and Hollywood movies sites alike. Guests can take a trip to the Cape Winelands and taste South Africa's homegrown wines; see the world from your vantage point on the top of the famed Table Mountain; dine like a king at any of the South Africa's fantastic restaurants and indulge in the great outdoors activities. You can visit the famed V&A Waterfront - a super spot for shopping and dining, and its attractions include the Two Oceans Aquarium, a craft market, an amphitheater where local artists perform and many more. Additionally, AfricanMecca guests can also take a helicopter tour of the three bays, harbor cruise or head out for Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela spent many years in imprisonment. The treacherous Cape Point promontory is a witness to many historic shipwrecks enhances Cape Town's reputation for dramatic scenery. It is a trip well worth making, the last part up to a lighthouse completed by funicular. Cape Town is an ideal vacation spot for those seeking adventure, culture, history, relaxation and entertainment.

After your Cape Town experience, you will proceed to Livingstone in Zambia to experience the majestic Victoria Falls. Described by the Kololo tribe living in the area in the 1800's as 'Mosi-oa-Tunya' - 'the Smoke that Thunders' and in more modern terms as 'the greatest known curtain of falling water'. One of the wonders of the world, Victoria Falls are a spectacular sight of awe-inspiring beauty and grandeur on the Zambezi River, bordering Zambia and Zimbabwe. Columns of spray can be seen from miles away as 546 million cubic meters of water per minute plummet over the edge (at the height of the flood season) over a width of nearly two kilometers into a deep gorge over 100 meters below. The wide basalt cliff, over which the falls thunder, transforms the Zambezi from a wide placid river to a ferocious torrent cutting through a series of dramatic gorges.   After your Victoria Falls stay, you will continue on to Chobe National Park. Chobe is Botswana’s first national park declared in 1967 covering around 11700 square kilometers. Famous as the elephant capital of Africa, the park derived its name from the Chobe River and located on the northern part of Botswana near Zambia, Zimbabwe and Namibia. The Chobe River is the main source of water for the park and comprises of mopane woodland, floodplains, grasslands and combretum offering diversity in its ecosystem. It has one of the largest concentrations of African elephants. General game viewing and birdlife are superb all year around with the elephant, buffalo and zebra masses being seasonally migratory based on accessibility to water and food. The park is home to predators such as lion, leopard, hyena, jackal, wild dog, cheetah etc. Chobe has resident herbivores such as buffalo, zebra, giraffe, roan and sable, red lechwe, waterbuck, bushbuck, puku, tsessebe, eland and many more. It is also a picture-perfect place for bird viewing with many species seen such as Spur-winged Geese, Pel’s Fishing Owl, Carmine Bee-eaters, most kingfishers, rollers, storks, Fish Eagle, Martial Eagle, Sacred ibis, Egyptian Geese, cormorants, darters and many more.

DEPARTURE & TRIP EXTENSIONS

Day 13: Chobe Departure & Extensions

Breakfast. Thereafter, transfer to the airport for your flight to O.R Tambo Airport in Johannesburg. Upon arrival, check in for your international flight back home or to continue with the below extension to Okavango Delta

RECOMMENDED PRE AND POST SAFARI AND TOUR EXTENSIONS IN OKAVANGO DELTA

After your Best Of South Africa, Victoria Falls & Chobe Safari - TIER 3 safari, we recommend a combination off-beat extension to distinct destinations such as the Okavango Delta. Alternatively, you can visit these destinations after your Chobe safari to harmoniously conclude with a coastal rest and relaxation in Cape Town with speckled seaside, cultural, winelands and historic experiences. You may customize to include any other destination of your preference in Eastern and Southern Africa. The options are endless!

3 Nights Okavango Delta Extension - (Botswana)

After breakfast, you will fly to your Okavango Delta concession experience for 3 nights stay at Kwara Camp. The camp is set overlooking a secluded lagoon in the northern Okavango Delta. This region offers a contrasting experience, as its location allows access to the permanent waterways of the Delta as well as expansive dry land areas, admired for their quality game viewing. Kwara accommodates a maximum of 16 guests in eight traditionally styled tents on raised decks, each offering superb views of the lagoon. Towering African ebony and mangosteen trees ensure that the camp is always cool while the hundreds of birds add to the feeling of serenity in one of the Okavango's best kept secrets. The main area has a lounge, dining room and a bar area with vistas of the lagoon and surrounding flora and fauna. Guests can also enjoy the pool to relax between game drives during siesta time and share safari stories or listen to the sounds of the night by the camp fire. The daily safari routine at Kwara usually involves an early morning wake up call, and a gathering around the fireside for piping hot tea and coffee, a bowl of sumptuous porridge and freshly baked muffins. As well as the clean early morning air and dazzling sun rise, an early departure greatly increases the chances of unusual sightings, as the majority of mammals are active at the beginning and end of the day when temperatures are lower. The year round waters at Kwara makes this one of the most consistent game viewing experience available in southern Africa with all the large exciting game species as well as all the interesting smaller species. Kwara offers all the activities one expects in an exclusive concession in the Okavango Delta - day and night drives, game walks, power boating, mokoro trips and fishing (spinning equipment is provided but fly fishermen need to bring their own equipment).
